Extraigo esta carta al director de The Economist porque me ha parecido graciosa e incluye a dos grandes escritores ingleses, Harold Pinter (1.930-2.008) Premio Nobel de Literatura, y Simon Gray (1.936-2.008) escritor.

Poetic form.

SIR – At 11 words, Harold Pinter’s shortest poem was certainly enigmatic: “I saw Len Hutton in his prime/Another time/another time” (“The known and the unknown”, August 20th). So was Simon Gray’s response when, a few days after sending him the poem, Pinter phoned Gray to check if he had received it. He replied he had, but “I haven’t finished reading it yet”

SIR - Con once palabras, el poema más corto de Harold Pinter fue ciertamente enigmático: "Vi a Len Hutton en su mejor momento / Otro tiempo / otro tiempo" (" Lo conocido y lo desconocido ", 20 de agosto). Esta fue la respuesta de Simon Gray, cuando pocos días después de enviarle el poema, Pinter llamó por teléfono a Gray para comprobar si lo había recibido. Él respondió que sí, pero que "no he terminado de leerlo todavía"
